Nice Threads Buddy
Ask a car guy and a teenager to define the term "threads" and you're sure to get two very different answers. For fashion-conscious youngsters, it refers to clothing, but to street machine enthusiasts, threads are the grooves and protrusions that effectively fasten screw-in devices and their counterparts.

Just as the threads in your favorite T-shirt can wear out, so can those found on automotive parts. Luckily, you can fix stripped internal threads yourself with the ThreadMate available from Lee Valley. (Your holey T-shirt, on the other hand, is probably headed for the rag pile.)

What makes the ThreadMate great?
  • Repairing rather than replacing stripped internal threads saves time, money and hassle.
  • It can repair an internal thread from the top down or bottom up
  • It's easy to use, as hardened HSS cutters automatically conform to the original thread pattern
  • It can remove clogs, reshape mild steel, cast iron, etc., and is equipped with plastic sleeves for working with soft metals
While toting the ThreadMate may not make you cool in the eyes of a teenager, as far as DIYers are concerned, you'll have the best threads in the neighborhood.
