A Fine 409 - 62 Chevy Impala
The Chevy 409-inch V-8 made a huge splash upon its introduction, and then disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. Considering it was only truly available from mid 1961 through mid 1965, it only had three full model years ('62-'64) to be offered, but that was all the 409 needed.

Jim Parker of Peoria, AZ, had always wanted a 409-urged Chevy. In the year 2000, he was finally ready to make his dream come true. "I first saw this car on a trailer at a swap meet in Glendale, AZ, in 2000. There was no name, phone number, or anything...just a "For Sale" sign. I waited around for almost an hour. No one showed up, so I left.

Almost a year later, I picked up a car trader magazine, still looking for a project. Lo and behold, there was the same car, on the same trailer, still for sale on the pages. It had previously been modified to be a lowrider but had potential because it was complete and rust-free. This was 2001 — the license plate tags showed the car hadn't been registered since 1985."

Follow along with the rest of Jim's story of rebuilding his gorgeous Impala on the NSMC website.
