Doing It Diesel
In 2007, a '70 Chevelle was being built by Mike Racke that created quite a stir. The car looked fantastic, would crank out well over a thousand horsepower, and when that powerplant roasts its tires, you'd smell burnt rubber and French fries.
Fueling a street machine with Bio Diesel seems like a stretch but it's happening, and with surprising results. Cummins Racing has a dragster that uses twin turbos and nitrous to get it down the strip in under 8 seconds at 167.43 mph.
This growing segment of high performance isn't limited to extreme examples. The DHRA has Pro Street and Pro Stock classes as well as Top Diesel, not to mention bracket racing for average guys that want to get out with their trucks and have some fun in the lanes.
For funny car fans there's an entry sponsored by Texas Diesel Power that's sure to blow you mind. Texas Diesel also sells an assortment of parts to give your daily driver diesel a little bump if you want to start small and work your way into some bigger gains.
