December 2, 2008 Sew Sweet: 1964 Chevelle Convertible
The imbalance is all too familiar, having huge displacement wedged under the hood, a body that's been hand rubbed, a stance that's aggressive and ready for action... but a look at the interior reveals a shocking ignorance for the details.
A car's interior is often the last and most overlooked part of a build, but not for Darrin Cutter who took a summer job at an upholstery shop and 14 years later found himself striking out on his own to make the inside of cars as pristine as their outer shell. Darrin realizes the interior accentuates the flow of the whole car but is really fleshed out in the details. This philosophy rings true with his gorgeous '64 Chevelle. The profile of the red leather interior pays respect to the original design, but a closer look reveals sportier bolsters, four bucket seats with chrome accents stitched in, and a sweeping console with a hidden gauge cluster extending the length of the cabin. More than just a stunning interior, the story of Darrin and his wife Cassie's Chevy might be the most impressive feature of the whole car. Discover the heritage and anticipation of this street machine by reading the full feature.
