September 18, 2008 Are You Leaky?
Most of us don't realize our rubber is leaking until we run through a carwash. Terror? Yes. But some leaks are worse than others when it comes to weather stripping and the reactions people have can vary greatly. Just don't do anything silly.
Keeping your car from leaking water and wind is a pretty monumental task, but it's not beyond the reach of normal enthusiasts. Consider all the potential areas that can leak, including around all the doors and windows, the trunk lid, and even the firewall (where wiring, brake, and throttle controls, among other things, must pass through). Taking the time to seal up your car's interior (and trunk) is a worthwhile task. The results go beyond corrosion prevention and the inconvenience of water leaks when it rains (or when you go through that pesky car wash). The car's ability to heat and cool the interior cabin is diminished greatly when leaks persist, and even conveniences like stereo systems sound best in well-sealed interiors.
