Deep Cycling
No, It's got nothing to do with scuba divers on crack, we're talking about some seriously heavy duty batteries from Optima!

Deep cycle batteries are designed to be discharged down as much as 80 percent time after time, and have much thicker plates. As a general rule, if you are going to double a true deep cycle battery as a starting battery, it should be oversized about 20 percent compared to the existing or recommended starting battery group size to get the same cranking amps.

On modern engines (with fuel injection and electronic ignition), it generally takes much less battery power to crank and start them, so raw cranking amp ratings are less important than they used to be. Many of today's enthusiast street machines are more heavily loaded with power sucking "appliances", such as megawatt stereo systems etc. that are more suited for deep cycle batteries. Also, deep cycle batteries can be charged with lower amps than regular batteries.

If you have (or are planning to get) a killer stereo system (or other audio/video goodies) tucked into your street machine, it'd be wise to look into Optima's Yellow Top Deep Cycle batteries.
