Sandblasting Fear and Shame
Don't be horrified to peel the skin off your car and see what tortures lie beneath. The process has scared off many a car enthusiast with visions of arthritic elbows and callused hands looking like rubber dishwashing gloves. There are many ways to get your car to bare metal without sandpaper and some are quite affordable.

The benefits are obvious. Bare metal to work with is the dream of anyone whose car has been infected with rust, patched with a Bondo band aid or covered in a less than subtle paint scheme. If you're intimidated then find a kit and start small, maybe on a trim piece or set of rims. It's challenging to balance the air pressure, angle of application and correct blasting media for the job. The time and money spent learning your new skills will be well worth the investment.

So don't be in denial about the state of your car. Strip it naked and see what you've got to work with. When the dust clears, your body panels may not look as rough as you think.

Sandblasting of a different sort.
