Velvet Covered Sledgehammer
'69 Camaro owner Bob Johnson draped a vinyl top and wheel well moldings onto his hefty hand made frame then crammed 1,500 horsepower under the hood (on 93-octane pump gasoline!) It looks classic but delivers with contemporary force hiding under it's skin.

He began with a stock C4 Corvette suspension on a frame jig, and built the 2x3-inch box steel tubing frame around it knowing if he adapted or changed it, it wouldn't be as good.

Bob designed, machined, and assembled the 427 cubic inch powerplant himself in his home shop with a pair of 72mm Turbonetics turbochargers, Donovan aluminum block, and Dart's CNC-ported 360cc heads shifting through a bulletproof TCI-built Turbo 400 transmission.

Externally he used stock components, including houndstooth bucket seats, a factory dash, and original gauges. Even the '69 Camaro sheetmetal is unaltered, but Bob carefully selected Rally Sport headlight doors, cowl induction hood, and white rally stripes over flawless black paint to make a strong statement without any need for further modification.
