April 22, 2009 Frank Lickliter II on Accuracy
A good way to achieve accuracy is to be aware of where your ball starts off.
Here's a drill that works for me. The idea is, if I start my ball on the chosen target line, it should arrive at my intended target. Split the sticks If you want to get better, challenge yourself with this drill! Put two shafts in the ground with a 12-inch opening in the center of your target line. Approach the shot with confidence. You'll get a huge mental reward by doing this drill repeatedly with all your clubs. I have no worries whatsoever that I'll split the sticks as I go to the top of my backswing. Golf's like shooting, another sport I really love; it's very mental and very focused. In the photo, I have split the shafts, and my ball begins with accuracy. By the way, the arrow formed by my divots isn't a training aid, just a result of earlier swings. Frank Lickliter II played his way back on the PGA TOUR in 2008 by winning the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament by four strokes last fall. The TOUR veteran has earned more than $11.2 million.
