Driver Quest V:
Buying a Brand New Big Dog

Goal: Buy a 2009 driver
Why? Callaway Hawkeye ain't cutting it anymore (buy for $9.95)
Plan: Before purchasing, test drivers from Adams, Callaway, Cleveland (reviewed), Cobra (reviewed), Nike, Ping (reviewed), TaylorMade and Titleist (reviewed)

Today: SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT (square-shape) ($450)

• If you're a bit of a control freak trying to control a game that refuses to be controlled—especially off the tee—then consider Nike's newest.
• Intriguing drivers with a shaft adapter built into the hosel. Result is eight different head positions and shot shapes.
• Example: You're a slicer and lessons haven't helped. Instead of continuing to "fight city hall," accept your fading fate and close the clubface (using a torque wrench that beeps when the clubhead is locked) to straighten (or STR8-ten) your drives. Clubface angles range from neutral to both one and two degrees closed or open.

Choice of Gary Legwold (Web Editor): Move over Ping Rapture V2; there are now two frontrunners. SQ DYMO STR8-FIT's new "folded round geometry" is more appealing and effective in providing the same MOI as the square-shaped version. I straightened out my push/slice and smoked several drives straightaway.
