March 18, 2009 Golf Value? Go West
Examples of great golf value when you head west:
New Mexico: If the economy's got you down, go to New Mexico where postcard beautiful courses, affordable green fees and value-priced, stay-and-play packages are the draw. Recommended:
The Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington, promises to be one of the best new daily-fee courses in 2009. Designed by Tacoma-based architect John Harbottle III, the housing-free layout stays true to the natural contour of the land as it weaves through the Palouse hills. The nearly treeless course has only 49 bunkers, half the number found on most new courses. Palouse Ridge, $39 to $91 for non-residents, is home course of the Washington State University men's and women's golf teams. More on Palouse Ridge.
