MISS-sippi Golf=Cool Beans

Checklist for your golf buddy trip to the Delta Region of northwest Mississippi:

• Practice saying MISS-sippi. It's fun. You loosin' up some.
  
  
• Practice saying "Cool beans!" and "Dang Skippy!" for jubilant times, like after sinking birdie putts or after paying for a round. Talk about value golf (see below)!
  
  
• Bone up on the blues, which were born in these parts and are highly celebrated. Don't worry if Muddy Waters and B.B. King aren't your bag; they will be by the time you head home. They kinda seep into your soul after a while.
  
  
• Bone up on blackjack. Tunica (20 minutes from Memphis) is a great casino resort center, rivaling Las Vegas and Atlantic City and beating both in terms of low costs.
  
  
• Play Tunica National Golf Club (see photo). Designed by Mark McCumber, this 7,210-yard championship course is challenging but fair. Weekend rates = $45; March-November = $60.
  
  
• Play The Links at Cottonwoods. This Hale Irwin course has a Scottish links feel. $49-$79.
  
  
• Play The Dogwoods at Hugh White State Park. Tall trees enclose undulating fairways and large greens, all surrounding Grenada Lake. $26-$39.
