Could You Run 1,000 Miles And Live To Hunt? |
|
|
Would you run 3 miles to prove you love hunting and the outdoors? How about 5 miles? 10? Wildlife Forever's Pat Conzemius has run more than 1,000 miles in the name of wildlife conservation. And he's going to add 26 more on Oct. 4 when he runs the Twin Cities Marathon with the goal of raising $25,000 for Wildlife Forever.
"Not too long ago, the only running I ever did was for ice fishing tip-ups and Taco Tuesday," Conzemius admits. "Now I'm running to encourage, inspire and help those who want to get outdoors and create their own conservation legacy."
Conzemius is asking people to donate money to Wildlife Forever for every mile he runs. Wildlife Forever is a nonprofit organization whose mission of conservation education and habitat preservation has driven them to accomplish the following:
- 34 million fish raised and stocked
- 1 million children educated about conservation
- 100,000 wood ducks hatched in WF boxes
- 240 miles of streams improved and restored
- 1 million acres of habitat conserved
- 400 million people taught about invasive species
Fantastic cause, but we don't know if we'd be alive after running 1,000 miles.
It's like Wildlife Forever President Doug Grann said: "I'm happy I don't have to run 1,000 miles. Writing a check is much easier."
