Back Pain: Could it be Your Rake's Fault? |
For many gardeners, fall is the time of year when we literally break our backs completing raking marathons. If it pains you to even think about raking your yard, then you may need to take a look at the relationship you have with your rake. While breaking up is never easy, sometimes it's just plain necessary.
Most leaf-rake handles are about 54 inches long. These are fine for most gardeners, but if you're petite, seek out a smaller rake. Shrub rakes (also called hand rakes) have handles closer to 30 inches long. This allows you to maneuver them easily, sometimes with just one hand.
Over the years, you might spend hours raking leaves. Why not make the job less painful by using the right rake? Read more expert tips on choosing the right rake for the job. |
