Learn How to Plant a Shrub |
|
|
This time of year, as you watch your yard turn from green to brown, you may go a bit stir crazy waiting for the colors of spring. But don't lose your mind just yet—fall is a great time to plant a colorful shrub that will be ready to spruce up your garden in spring. (If you live in a colder climate, don't wait too long, as temperatures cold enough to freeze the ground are right around the corner.)
Here's how to plant a shrub in four easy steps:
Step 1: Dig a hole that's as deep as the container and at least 1 to 2 feet wider.
Step 2: Pop your shrub out of its pot; spread roots. Make several vertical cuts down the root ball if the plant is root bound. This allows the roots to grow out into the surrounding soil instead of circling.
Follow the rest of our instructions to learn more about planting a healthy, thriving shrub. |
