May 14, 2009 The Newest Zinnia on the Block
Zinnias are hard to resist. Drop the seeds of these cheerful annuals into the ground in spring, water them once or twice, and get a hedge of gumdrop colors and a butterfly parade. You'll be as hooked as we are.
The hottest new upgrade in the zinnia department is the Zahara series from Ball. These low-maintenance beauties are so resistant to heat, disease, and drought that they were used in landscaping at last summer's Olympic Games in Beijing. They have large flowers, but the plant stays a tidy 12 to 18 inches tall. Even if you're hosting a small garden party instead of the Olympics, you'll love the vivid colors in the Zahara series: scarlet, yellow, white, and coral. For that perfect pop of color in your garden or containers, order Zinnia Zahara and sit back and enjoy the parade. The butterflies will thank you!
